So we gritted our teeth and stepped off the bypass tarmac on to narrow bunds across rice fields, which meant single file for about the first kilometre. Then there was some road before a delightful stretch of woodland for about 2 kilometres then back on to road and across the same rice fields back home. The highlight of the circle was next weeks hare, Onefer, being jollied along with Waltzing Matilda and there was more singing at the restaurant by Davey Delayed. He couldn't resist getting up when the Thai cowboy singer chose My Way much too early in the evening but not for Davey who showed him how to do it. Honorable mention to Cathusalem for bringing a log for the fire. If everyone would bring just a log, we'd be able to start our own hell. At the pre-run circle, Rubber Duck informed us that the committees of the two hashes had agreed to amalgamate the hashes under a single Mismanagement subject to a vote by those present at this hash and next week's Hua Hin hash with voting at the post-run circles. So we set off with the opportunity to think about it on the way. The trail was well laid along very pleasant paths all the way. Nobody got lost this week, so we were able to get the voting done promptly resulting in 25 in favour, none against with 5 abstentions. The highlight of the circle was Korn and avowed new member Jeff drinking out of their new shoes. Jeff even volunteered! Then, it was barbecue time and a good time was had by all.
Photos by Hugs - recommend click on first photo then F11 for full screen
Photos by Mudman - ditto
Photos by Cathusalem - ditto
GPS scan by Tinks
Hash Run Rambo/Runners trail set by Ahmedashed for me was 7.0 km and took me 69:30 min.
Elevation: Min 46 m, Max 72 m, Gain 62 m, Loss 62 m.
Slope: Assent 7.8%, Decent 6.3%
Start to SW Split: 2.3 km in 23:29 min.
SW Split to R/W Split: 0.8 km in 7:56 min.
R/W Split to R/W Merge: 2.0 km in 19:58 min.
R/W Merge to SW Merge: 0.2 km in 2:12 min.
SW Merge to Finish: 1.6 km in 15:55 min.
Short Walk Trail: 4.0 km
Long Walk Trail: 5.5 km
Rambo/Runners Trail: 7.0 km

CAH3 #316 - Ahmedashed & Aom - CAH3 12th Anniversary

https://h2h3-cah3.weebly.com/hash-trash/cah3-316-ahmedashed-aom-cah3-12th-anniversary

https://h2h3-cah3.weebly.com/hash-trash/cah3-316-ahmedashed-aom-cah3-12th-anniversary#comments

Uncategorized

Scotch Tape was in our thoughts as we circled up - such a sad loss RIPLocation - Cha-Am Beach Road SouthThe route to the run site from the Hua Hin direction involved a long detour that was deemed necessary because of the large number of Thais visiting Cha-Am for the Queen's Birthday and Mother's Day holiday. Our celebration was for the CAH3 12th Anniversary but it was tinged with sadness as we observed a minutes silence for the passing of Scotch Tape with nearly all present having m [...]

Scotch Tape was in our thoughts as we circled up - such a sad loss RIP
Location - Cha-Am Beach Road South
The route to the run site from the Hua Hin direction involved a long detour that was deemed necessary because of the large number of Thais visiting Cha-Am for the Queen's Birthday and Mother's Day holiday.
Our celebration was for the CAH3 12th Anniversary but it was tinged with sadness as we observed a minutes silence for the passing of Scotch Tape with nearly all present having many memories of a great hasher and true gentleman. The trail followed some of the route of last New Year's Eve run in the delightful Cha-Am Forest Park, perhaps not so delightful for the very tall guys who had to stoop under vegetation that had overgrown the paths in several places. There were more forest paths for the runners after the split but for the walkers it was all the way back along the Beach Road although there was some nice scenery of a different kind. Then came the big disappointment the celebratory free beer was only LEO, no Chang. However, Dragon Tail did a great job serving monster hot dogs with salsa and just about any sauce or relish you could think of. Then, Colossus's grandson, Spencer, was down-downed as a virgin and Space Cowboy was welcomed back after a long absence because of breaking his toe.
Photos by Cathusalem - recommend click on first photo then F11 for full screen
Photos by Hugs - ditto
GPS scan by Tinks
Rambo/Runners trail set by Ahmedashed & Aom for me was 6.7 km and took me 69:17 min.
Elevation: Min 0 m, Max 13 m, Gain 43 m, Loss 43 m.
Slope: Assent 4.7%, Decent 4.2%
Start to R/W Split: 2.5 km in 27:32 min.
R/W Split to Finish: 4.2 km in 41:45 min.
Walkers Trail: Rumoured to be around 4.5 km
On After at Ozone Restaurant on Beach Road South

CAH3 #315 - Butt Out & Screwdriver

https://h2h3-cah3.weebly.com/hash-trash/cah3-315-butt-out-screwdriver

https://h2h3-cah3.weebly.com/hash-trash/cah3-315-butt-out-screwdriver#comments

Uncategorized

Location - West side of Bypass, about 4km North of Pala-U intersectionThe car park was moved 200m North along the Bypass in case our vehicles got stuck in boggy ground after heavy rain. At the start of the run, we had to go back 200m on the Bypass shoulder but soon were out into head high grass reminiscent of the land of the Fukawi tribe. Then came the runner/walkers split both heading for different bridges to cross the Sam Phan Nam river, which is quite wide at this point although elsewhere, crossing it on its meandering course towards Pranburi and the sea, it is just a narrow stream. The tall grass gave way to pineapple and sugar cane and, although it seemed likely to be a flat trail, we gradually gained height to a spot where a spectacular vista of distant hills in the direction of Burma opened up (see Cathusalem's photos). Looking back to the East, the vista of hills was equally spectacular. After the trails merged we re-crossed the river taking us back to the Bypass with an optional detour to see the amazing Weaver birds nests (see Screwdriver's photos).
